Rate the Raters 2026 Investors survey

ERM Sustainability Institute have released the 2026 Rate the Raters investor survey and are seeking responsible investment-minded investors to provide input.

For more than 15 years, ERM’s Rate the Raters report has been delivering trusted, independent insights from global sustainability practitioners. The research takes place every few years. Each cycle has two parts — a survey and report capturing corporate issuer perspectives on ratings, and a separate survey and report capturing investor views. ERM published the latest company edition of the research in December 2025, and now are conducting research for the investor edition. 

The insights will help ensure the research reflects the realities investors face when integrating ESG ratings. This 2026 survey, which takes 7-8 minutes and is anonymous, is an opportunity for investors to advance a more transparent, decision‑useful ESG ratings landscape. 

The survey asks: 

• How investment firms use ESG ratings  
• Which ESG ratings investors consider highest quality and most useful 
• Where investors see the greatest value and the greatest limitations in the current ratings landscape 

 
The Rate the Raters reports are widely used by companies, investors, and academia and are publicly available for download on the ERM website.
