"Retail investors and the stock market. The results of a survey among Italian households"
L.Filippa, A.Franzosi - November 2001

Abstract

This paper highlights the results from a Borsa Italiana survey among a sample of households investing in Italian listed stocks. During the end of the 90s, retail participation in the Italian equity market has become an impressive phenomenon. The report describes the main social and demographic features of retail investors in Italian stocks. It quantifies their stocks portfolio and evaluates their behaviour in financial choices. Furthermore, the survey considers their attitude towards intermediaries and media. These topics are considered for a sample of investors in equity derivatives too.
