Today marks the beginning of Borsa Italiana Virtual AIM Italia and Virtual STAR Conference: three days of meetings with investors, for the first time in virtual format, featuring 45 companies listed on AIM Italia and 63 companies listed on the STAR segment of Borsa Italiana.

In a complex market scenario, there has been strong participation by listed companies and considerable interest among Italian and international institutional investors in mid- and small-cap companies listed on AIM Italia and STAR.

The AIM Italia Conference, now in its third edition, allows companies listed on AIM Italia to hold one-on-one meetings or in groups with institutional investors. Over 750 digital meetings have been organised with investors and analysts. 218 investors present are representing 129 investment firms, of which 43% Italian and 57% international, including firms from UK (15%), Switzerland (13%), Germany (11%), France (4%), Spain (3%), Malta (3%) other countries (8%).

The AIM Italia Conference will be followed, on 26 and 27 May, by the STAR Conference: two days of digital meetings involving 63 companies listed on the STAR segment of Borsa Italiana, which will hold over 1.900 meetings with investors and analysts.

The STAR Conference, now in its 19th edition, will include 320 investors representing 184 investment firms, 28% Italian and 72% international, including firms from UK (20%), France (13%), Germany (11%), Switzerland (10%), Spain (5%), US (3%), other countries (10%).

The AIM Italia market

AIM Italia currently includes 128 listed companies with a total market capitalisation of €5.8 billion and an average market capitalisation of €46 million (as of 30/4/2020).

In recent years, AIM Italia has enjoyed considerable growth, consolidating its position as the market of reference for small and medium Italian enterprises, often making their first approach to capital markets.

Companies listed on AIM Italia represent many sectors of Italy’s economy: from industry to technology, consumer goods and services and health care. Approximately 40% of its companies are innovative SMEs.

The STAR segment

The STAR segment currently includes 76 listed companies with a total capitalisation of €37.6 billion and an average capitalisation of €495 million (as of 30/04/2020).

Since 2001 the STAR segment has been synonymous with transparency, liquidity and sound governance, the three pillars of the best practices designed to provide visibility to medium-sized listed Italian enterprises and attract international investors. The companies listed on the STAR segment are representative of over nine sectors in which the Italian economy excels: from industry to consumer goods and services, from technology to the media.

Barbara Lunghi, Head of Primary Markets at Borsa Italiana, commented

:

"The AIM Italia Conference and STAR Conference organised by Borsa Italiana are unique opportunities for dialogue between listed companies and both Italian and international investors. In their new digital form, this year our conferences remain fundamental event that allow the financial community to meet in one venue. At a complex time such as present, it is important for listed companies to maintain an open channel of dialogue with investors. It is for this reason that Borsa Italiana has pledged to ensure the continuity, through three days of virtual meetings, of two consolidated, fundamental events on the calendars of Italian and international investors."
