Trading activity to increase in January 2009

In January 2009 on MOT, Borsa Italiana’s bonds market, the average daily number of trades was 17,601, up to 37.5% compared to January 2008 (12,800).

Since March 2000 the average daily number of trades hit highest levels, demonstrating  the positive trend on Italian government bonds of Domestic Mot and on Eurobonds, supranational and foreign government bonds of EuroMot.

In January 2009  the total number of trades on MOT reached 369,617 (+39.6% on last month, +31.3% on January 2008) for a total value traded of € 20,99 billion (+38.6% on last month, +28.9% on January 2008).

The average daily value traded was € 999.4 million up 35% compared to January 2008 (€ 740.3 million).
