ESGeneration Italy - National Network for Global Sustainable Finance

ESGeneration Italy - an initiative promoted by Borsa Italiana, FeBAF and Forum per la Finanza Sostenibile - aims to consolidate Italy's active role in sustainable finance at international level.

The network's principles

ESGeneration Italy participates in FC4S, the global network of sustainable financial centres promoted by the United Nations, in order to enhance the Italian experience in sustainable finance at international level.

The principles that inspire the new network are:

  • enhancement of ESG criteria;
  • transparency;
  • medium-long term strategic vision and international positioning.

These principles are in line with the "Sustainable and Responsible Investment Charter for Italian Finance" signed in 2012 and are even more relevant in the light of the European Commission's new guidelines and the political, economic and social strategies in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Borsa Italiana and the Sustainability

Raffaele Jerusalmi, CEO of Borsa Italiana, commented on the initiative: "The ESGeneration Italy's birth confirms Borsa Italiana's commitment to contributing to the development of increasingly sustainable financial and capital markets in Italy. As part of Euronext Group, we play a key role in supporting and facilitating the growth of a financial ecosystem that promotes a long-term sustainable economy. In that sense, ESGeneration Italy is part of a series of initiatives aimed at spreading the culture of sustainable finance and raising the awareness of companies in choosing increasingly circular growth paths".

Presentation event

Friday 1th October 2021, ESGeneration Italy will be presented to the Italian financial community during the webinar "Financing the 'just transition': from commitment to action". The latter is part of the "All4Climate" campaign of events promoted by the Ministry of Ecological Transition in the framework of Pre-COP26 activities.
