US futures higher amid hopes of early end to Iran war

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 1 apr - US futures were higher following Tuesday's rally amid raised hopes for an early resolution to the war in Iran.

The main indexes posted their biggest one-day gains in ten months yesterday after president Donald Trump said the US could leave Iran in 2-3 weeks. The Dow closed up 2.5%, the S&P 500 added 2.9% while the tech-heavy Nasdaq jumped 3.8%.

Trump, who has signalled his willingness to end the war even if the Strait of Hormuz remains largely shut, said yesterday the war won't last "much longer." Iranian state media meanwhile reported comments by President Masoud Pezeshkian that Iran has "the necessary will to end this war".

Trump is due to deliver a speech to the nation later today to give an update about the war.

On the data front, retail sales, the monthly ADP private payrolls report and manufacturing activity reports are all due today as investors prepare for the critical payrolls report later in the week.

On the stocks front, shares in Nike were down more than 10% in premarket trade after the sneaker company warned of falling sales head while home-furnishings company RH missed expectations sending its shares down 19%.

Futures on the Dow Jones were up 328.00 points, or 0.70%, S&P 500 futures were up 48.50 points, or 0.74%, while futures on.

the Nasdaq were up 231.50 points, or 0.97%.
