(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 19 giu - UniCredit said it had secured a further 12.51% stake in Commerzbank following the close of the initial offer period earlier this week.

The Commerzbank shares held by UniCredit, 26.77%, and the number of shares in relation to which the Italian lender has instruments with the right to demand physical delivery, 3.22%, amount to 42.50%.

This percentage rises to 44.33% once Commerzbank redeems its Treasury shares, something it has committed to doing, UniCredit said.

Shareholders in Commerzbank who have not yet accepted the offer can still do so, the lender said.

UnCredit will re-open the offer between June 20 and July 3.
