UK shares end higher despite Middle East stalemate
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 11 mag - Shares in London closed higher extending the index's rebound from the beginning of last month despite geopolitical and economic uncertainty.
Investors kept an eye on the Middle East after US president Donald Trump said yesterday that Iran's new peace proposal was 'totally unacceptable', leaving the two sides at loggerheads and casting uncertainty over when the Strait of Hormuz may reopen again.
Chinese' economic data was unexpectedly bright, also helping lift sentiment.
Among individual stocks, shares of the online fashion retailer Asos jumped 6.67% to 232.00 pence after the company announced the sale of a UK logistics center to Marks & Spencer.
The London FTSE 100 closed up 0.36% at 10,269.43 points.
