Shanghai shares close lower on Middle East tensions

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 24 apr - Chinese share prices closed lower, as tensions in the Middle East continued to dampen investor appetite.

Sentiment was weighed down by supply concerns in the Strait of Hormuz, with the resulting surge in energy costs fueling fears of global inflation as Chinese exporters begin to pass on higher raw material expenses to consumers.

Losses were led by the tech stocks.

The Shanghai Composite index fell 0.33% to close at 4,079.90.
