Shanghai shares close lower on Middle East escalation
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 5 giu - Chinese share prices closed lower as market sentiment remained weighed down by renewed geopolitical instability in the Middle East.
Losses were led by the battery and automotive sectors, overshadowing the outperformance of chipmakers, which rose amid reports that AI startup DeepSeek is seeking a 50 billion yuan (7.4 billion dollar) funding round.
The Shanghai Composite index fell 0.74% to close at 4,027.74.
