Shanghai shares close higher on US-Iran ceasefire

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 8 apr - Chinese share prices closed higher, tracking a broader rally across Asian markets as investors welcomed the two-week ceasefire agreement between the US, Israel, and Iran.

The de-escalation, centered on the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, triggered a sharp decline in oil and gas prices, easing fears that energy inflation would force central banks to hike interest rates.

Gains were led by tech and semiconductor stocks.

The Shanghai Composite index climbed 2.69% to close at.

3,995.00 points.
