Shanghai shares close higher on monetary policy
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 20 apr - Chinese share prices closed higher, as the central bank's decision to keep benchmark interest rates at record lows for the eleventh consecutive month helped market sentiment.
China kept the one-year loan prime rate at 3.0% and the five-year rate at 3.5%, with both benchmarks remaining unchanged since last May.
Sentiment remained cautious as investors monitored geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
Gains were led by financial stocks.
The Shanghai Composite index rose 0.76% to close at 4,082.13.
