Shanghai shares close higher despite US-China tech tensions
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 29 apr - Chinese share prices closed higher despite uncertainty over diplomatic relations with the US ahead of a planned summit next month between presidents Donald Trump and Xi Jinping.
Sentiment was tested by increased US scrutiny over Beijing's ties with Tehran and new sanctions on private refiners, alongside Beijing's recent move to block Meta Platforms' bid for AI startup Manus to protect domestic technology.
Gains were led by the technology and consumer sectors.
The Shanghai Composite index rose 0.71% to close at 4,107.51.
