Shanghai shares close higher despite Middle East tensions

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 23 giu - Chinese share prices closed higher as investor sentiment held firm despite heightened geopolitical tensions following US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites.

Markets remained resilient even as concerns grew over possible retaliation from Tehran, including the risk of a closure of the Strait of Hormuz that could severely disrupt global oil and gas flows.

Gains were led by coal, transport and tech stocks, as the Shanghai Composite index rose 0.65% to close at 3,381.58.
