Sainsbury FY underlying EPS 22.1 pence, down 3.9%

Final div 9.2 pence/shr (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - London, 25 Apr - The UK retailer J Sainsbury, which operates the banners Sainsbury's and Argos, said that in the full year ended March 2 basic earnings per share fell 34.4% to 5.9 pence and underlying basic EPS slipped 3.9% to 22.1 pence.

The company proposed a final dividend of 9.2 pence per share, resulting in a full-year dividend of 13.1 pence, in line with last year.

Group sales rose 3.4% to 36.337 billion pounds and the retail underlying operating profit gained 4.3% to 966 million.

Retail free cashflow was 639 million pounds, broadly flat year on year.

In the 2024/2025 financial year, Sainsbury expects to deliver retail underlying operating profit of 1.010-1.060 billion pounds, up 5-10%, and generate a retail free cash flow of at least 500 million pounds.
