To propose Giovanni Caforio as chair at 2025 AGM (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Bern, 23 Apr - Novartis also said it will propose Giovanni Caforio as chair of the board of directors at the annual general meeting in 2025, succeeding Joerg Reinhardt whose 12-year term ends in 2025, when he will retire.

Caforio comes from Bristol Myers Squibb where he served in various senior roles. From May 2015 to November 2023, he was CEO and from May 2017 to March 2024, he served as executive chairman.

Caforio was born and educated in Italy and holds Italian and US citizenship. He is a physician by training and received his M.D. from the University of Rome.
