The Nikkei index closed up 1.00% at 37,438 points.

Tokyo stocks bounced back from the lowest level in more than two months as Middle East concerns eased, helping lift global sentiment.

In Tokyo stock market dealings mining, chemical, petroleum & plastic shares were among the biggest advancers.
