Japan shares close lower as late sell-off erases intraday records
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 14 mag - Japanese shares closed lower, after a sharp afternoon reversal erased gains that had earlier pushed the benchmark index to a new all-time intraday record.
While the market initially found support from strong corporate earnings and sustained demand for AI stocks, momentum shifted late in the session as investors locked in profits following the record peak.
Market players also remained focused on the high-stakes summit in Beijing between US president Donald Trump and Chinese president Xi Jinping.
The Nikkei 225 closed down 0.98% at 62,654.05 points.
