Italy sells 4 bln eur in bonds at higher yields

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 25 mar - Italy's treasury sold a total of 4 billion euros of bonds in an auction, the Bank of Italy said, with yields rising on all issues on offer.

In particular, the treasury sold 2 billion euros in the fifth tranche of short-term bonds coming due February 28, 2028 at a yield of 2.89%, up 73 basis points from the previous auction and its highest level since August 2024. The bid-to-cover ratio was 1.78.

The treasury also sold 1 billion euros in the thirteenth tranche of five-year bonds indexed to the eurozone inflation rate and coming due August 15, 2031 at a yield of 0.97%, up 13 basis points from the previous auction, and a bid-to-cover ratio of 1.67.

Lastly, Italy's treasury sold 1 billion euros in the sixteenth tranche of 10-year bonds indexed to the eurozone inflation rate and a maturity date of May 15, 2036 at a yield of 1.78%, up by 26 basis points from the previous auction.

The bid-to-cover ratio on this issue was also 1.67.
