Indian shares close slightly higher after volatile session
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 2 apr - Indian share prices closed slightly higher, after falling sharply in opening trade, as gains in the IT sector offset losses triggered by US president Donald Trump's hawkish rhetoric on Iran.
Markets were rattled at the open as investors weighed Trump's pledge to hit Tehran "extremely hard," sending crude oil prices back above 106 dollars a barrel.
While pharmaceutical and realty stocks remained under pressure, the IT sector's resilience helped the indices return to positive territory.
The BSE Sensex edged up 0.25% to close at 73,319.55 points.
while the NSE Nifty gained 0.15% to reach 22,713.10 points.
