Indian shares close lower on geopolitical tensions

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 22 apr - Indian share prices closed lower as investors remained anxious over the ongoing conflict between Iran and the US.

Despite a ceasefire deadline extension from US president Donald Trump, market sentiment was dampened by surging oil prices and a weaker rupee.

Losses were led by IT, financial, and banking stocks.

The BSE Sensex dropped 0.95% to finish at 78,516.49 points.

while the NSE Nifty fell 0.81% to reach 24,378.10 points.
