(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 17 feb - IHS Towers said it had agreed to be acquired by MTN Group in an all-cash transaction valuing the telecommunications company at around 6.2 billion dollars.

In a statement IHS Towers said South Africa-based mobile operator MTN had agreed to pay 8.50 dollars per share to its shareholders, a 36% premium to the company's one-year weighted average share price as of February 4.

IHS Towers' board has unanimously approved the agreement and the transaction, it said.

The transaction is expected to close in 2026.
