Hong Kong shares close lower on oil price surge, rate hike fears
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 11 set - Hong Kong share prices closed lower, tracking losses on Wall Street as surging oil prices fueled fresh concerns over inflation and the path of interest rates.
Sentiment was further dented by rising US Treasury yields, with the 10-year note approaching 5%, which weighed on growth and technology stocks as investors braced for the release of the latest US inflation data.
Technology and financial stocks led the losses.
The Hang Seng index fell 0.60% to close at 24,805.63 points.
