Hong Kong shares close lower on Middle East volatility

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 9 apr - Hong Kong share prices closed lower as optimism over the US-Iran ceasefire faded.

Market sentiment was dampened by reports of truce violations in the Middle East and the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which sparked renewed volatility in energy markets and fueled fears of persistent global inflation.

Locally, investors turned cautious ahead of Friday's release of key Chinese economic data.

Losses were led by tech, heavy machinery, and consumer services stocks.

The Hang Seng index fell 0.54% to close at 25,752.40 points.
