Hong Kong shares close lower on Middle East tensions

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 28 apr - Hong Kong share prices closed lower, as market sentiment remained cautious amid persistent geopolitical tensions and a lack of clear direction from global markets.

Investors were notably defensive ahead of key technology earnings and upcoming central bank decisions, as the diplomatic standoff between the US and Iran continued to dampen risk appetite across the region.

A surge in energy costs fueled concerns over global inflationary pressures and potential delays to monetary easing.

The decline was led by the tech sector.

The Hang Seng index fell 0.95% to close at 25,679.78 points.
