Hong Kong shares close lower on inflation concerns
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 20 mar - Hong Kong share prices closed lower as investors reacted to warnings from global central banks about the Middle East war's impact on inflation.
Caution also prevailed following comments from the IMF, which noted that the economic fallout depends on the length and intensity of the conflict.
The market was further weighed down by the Chinese central bank's decision to keep its benchmark loan prime rates unchanged for the tenth consecutive month, sparking fears that further stimulus might be delayed.
Losses were led by the tech and consumer sectors.
The Hang Seng index fell 0.88% to close at 25,277.32 points.
