Hong Kong shares close lower on China-Japan tensions

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 17 nov - Hong Kong share prices closed lower as renewed declines in Chinese markets and rising tensions between Beijing and Tokyo weighed on sentiment, after China warned its citizens against traveling to Japan.

Investors also grew more cautious as expectations for a US rate cut in December eased following recent signals from policymakers, though a rise in US futures helped cap further losses ahead of key data releases after the end of the longest US shutdown in history.

Losses were led by auto, travel, technology, mining and shipping stocks, as the Hang Seng index closed down 0.71% at.

26,384.28 points.
