Hong Kong shares close higher; property stocks rally

Hang Seng up 0.54% at 17,746 points (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Hong Kong , 29 Apr - Hong Kong shares closed higher amid strong Asian markets, extending a recent rally after posting last week their biggest weekly gain since November 2022.

The Hang Seng index closed up 0.54% at 17,746 points after rising almost 9% last weekand was on track for a 7% gain in April, making it the world's best-performing index this month.

The index was now 20% above five-year lows hit in late January.

Optimism over corporate earnings and a series of policy support measures to boost investor confidence helped lift sentiment.

In Hong Kong stock market dealings property stocks soared, extending Friday's rally, after the Beijing announced measures to further loosen home purchase restrictions across major cities.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng Mainland Properties Index soares 3.65% after soaring 14% last week.

Airliner Air China dipped 4.11% after it missed expectations in the latest quarter despite an increase in air travel, as higher cost of goods and oil prices weighed.
