Hong Kong shares close higher on tech strength and Middle East hopes
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 7 mag - Hong Kong stocks closed higher, supported by a rally in major tech firms and reports that Iran is reviewing a peace proposal from the US, raising hopes for a diplomatic breakthrough in that conflict.
This improved risk appetite helped the market overlook a lack of spending figures from the recent May Day holiday, while anticipation builds ahead of the upcoming meeting between US president Donald Trump and Chinese president Xi Jinping.
Gains were led by the tech and AI sector stocks.
The Hang Seng index rose 1.57% to close at 26,626.28 points.
