Hong Kong share prices close higher on tech and consumer gains

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 31 mar - Hong Kong share prices closed slightly higher as gains in the technology and consumer sectors helped the market weather ongoing Middle East tensions.

The market also drew strength from an uptick in China's manufacturing sector, where the purchasing managers' index climbed to 50.4 in March. This improvement in industrial activity, along with signs of easing deflationary pressures, helped support investor sentiment despite the volatility in energy prices.

The Hang Seng index rose 0.15% to close at 24,788.14 points.
