Hapag-Lloyd FY EBITDA 3.6 bln usd vs 5.029 bln

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 26 mar - German container shipping company Hapag-Lloyd said that in 2025, its EBITDA fell to 3.6 billion dollars from 5.029 billion, resulting in a margin of 17% against 24%, and EBIT dropped to to 1.073 billion from 2.788 billion, for a margin of 5%, down from 13%.

Group profit amounted to 1.044 billion dollars, down from 2.588 billion but at the upper end of the earnings forecast.

The bottom line fell because of lower freight rates and higher operational costs.

Revenue inched up to 21.051 billion dollars from 20.673 billion.

The company is proposing a dividend of 3.00 euros per share for the 2025 fiscal year.

For 2026, EBITDA is expected to come in at 1.1-3.1 billion dollars, and EBIT to be between negative 1.5 billion and positive 0.5 billion dollars. The outlook remains subject to considerable uncertainty due to the highly volatile development of freight rates and the conflict in the Middle East, it noted.

'At the beginning of 2026, adverse weather conditions weighed on our performance and the conflict in the Middle East is now causing considerable network disruptions and sharply increasing operational costs. Against this backdrop, we expect earnings in 2026 to be lower than in 2025," said CEO Rolf Habben Jansen.

"We will leverage increasing synergies from our Gemini network and accelerate our cost savings initiatives to counter these headwinds. At the same time, we will maintain our growth trajectory by expanding our terminals portfolio under the Hanseatic Global Terminals brand and working decisively toward a successful completion of our merger.

agreement with ZIM.'
