GSK Q1 turnover 7.629 bln pounds, up 2%; up 5% constant forex

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 29 apr - The UK pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) said that its first quarter turnover rose a reported 2%, and a constant currency 5%, to 7.629 billion pounds.

Specialty Medicines sales rose 14% to 3.2 billion pounds, with Respiratory, Immunology & Inflammation up 16% to 0.9 billion, Oncology up 28% to 0.5 billion, and HIV sales up 10% to 1.8 billion pounds.

Vaccines sales increased by 4% to 2.1 billion, with Shingrix up 20%, Meningitis down 3%; and Arexvy 18% lower.

General Medicines sale fell 6% to 2.3 billion pounds with steady Trelegy sales.

Core operating profit rose a reported 5% and a constant currency 10% to 2.65 billion pounds for a margin of 34.7%, up a reported 1.0 percentage point and a constant currency 1.8 points, and core earnings per share rose a reported 4% and a constant currency 9% to 46.5 pence.

The increase reflects higher sales, favourable product and regional mix, SG&A benefits and higher royalty income, partly offset by increased investment in R&D and new asset launches.

Cash generated from operations increased 4% to 1.4 billion pounds with free cash flow of 0.8 billion pounds.

The group declared a first quarter dividend of 17 pence per share with the full year dividend expected at 70 pence per share. It said it executed 1.7 billion pounds of its 2.0 billion sharebuyback.

It confirmed its 2026 guidance and 2031 sales outlook. It expects 2026 turnover growth of between 3-5%, core operating profit and core EPS growth of between 7-9% at constant currencies. In 2031, sales are expected to exceed 40 billion.
