French footwear retailer Minelli to close down May 30

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 13 mag - The French footwear retailer Minelli, which was placed into receivership in March, announced on Instagram that it will close down on May 30.

The retailer, which employs 86 people, will keep its 21 stores open until May 30, offering 60% discounts on its goods, but sales on its website have been suspended.

Potential buyers had until May 11 to bid for the company. But a Paris-based court only received offers for a limited amount of assets such as stores or the brand name.

The news agency AFP reported that the fashion brands Maje and Father and Sons, the optician Jimmy Fairly and the bakery chain Mie Caline expressed interest for one or two stores.

Meanwhile, the transport and logistics group Baghaira offered to buy for 300,000 euros the Minelli brand as well as the company's inventory, evaluated at 2.7 million euros, and keep nine employees.

The businessman Philippe Sayada had also offered to buy the company for 2 euros but at conditions that still had to be set, AFP added.

Minelli had already been placed into receivership in 2023 by a Marseille-based court before being saved by three investors who only kept a third of the brand's employees and less than.

half its stores.
