European shares mostly higher as earnings offset Middle East tensions
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 5 mag - European share prices moved mostly higher by midday, as investors attempted to look past escalating tensions in the Middle East to refocus on the ongoing corporate earnings season.
Market sentiment remained supported by the continuation of peace talks between the White House and Tehran.
Market participants are keeping a close watch on discussions between European and US officials over threatened automotive tariffs.
Traders are also awaiting cues on interest rates from scheduled remarks by top European Central Bank policymakers Christine Lagarde and Philip Lane in Germany, while Federal Reserve governor Michael Barr is set to speak in the UK later this afternoon.
At 1002 GMT, London's FTSE 100 was down 0.98% at 10,262.60 points. Frankfurt's DAX rose 0.92% to 24,256.05 points and the CAC 40 in Paris gained 0.65% to 8,028.08 points. Milan's FTSE MIB climbed 2.02% to 48,437.50 points, while Madrid's.
