Europe shares slightly higher at mid-session amid earnings

FTSE up 0.21%; DAX down 0.14%; CAC 40 up 0.33% (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milan, 18 Apr - European shares were slightly higher at mid-session, extending yesterday's rebound amid strong global markets, with the Stoxx 600 index up 0.18%.

Investors monitored fresh earnings reports from European companies including Swiss engineering company ABB, Finnish telecom giant Nokia and UK airline Easyjet as the first quarter earnings season begins to pick up pace in the region.

Caution prevailed as concerns over higher-for-longer US interest rates continued to keep sentiment in check after hawkish comments from Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell earlier this week.

US stock futures pointed to a moderately higher open after the S&P 500 fell yesterday for a fourth straight session.

Oil prices fell for a fourth day, slipping from a near six-month high on easing supply concerns as traders dismissed the risk of a wider war between Israel and Iran.

At 1135 GMT, the FTSE 100 was up 0.21% at 7,864 points, while the Frankfurt DAX was down 0.14% at 17,762 points. The Paris CAC 40 was up 0.33% at 8,007 points, while in Milan the FTSE MIB was up 0.10% at 33,665 points and in Madrid the IBEX 35 was up 0.63% at 10,701 points.
