Europe shares slightly higher at mid-session amid earnings -2-
ABB, OVS rally; Sartorius dips (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milan, 18 Apr - In European stock market dealings most sectors were higher, with industrials and shares leading the gains following better-than-expected results from ABB.
The Swiss engineering group soared 5.35% in Zurich dealings.
Utilities also rose, while oil and gas stocks dropped as they tracked oil prices lower. Shares in Franco-German lab supplies maker Sartorius sank 10.58% after the company's first-quarter order intake and revenue missed analysts' expectations.
Shares of OVS jumped 6.88% in Milan trade after reporting solid 2023 results and positive guidance for 2024. In its financial year ended January 31, 2024, OVS reported sales of 1.536 billion euros, up 1.5% compared to the year earlier, while reported net profit grew to 52.4 million and adjusted net profit stood at 75.9 million.
