Europe shares end lower on Iran war uncertainty, data

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 6 mar - European shares closed lower, posting the sharpest weekly drop since falling 10.5% in the wake of US president Trump's "Liberation Day" tariffs, amid ongoing concerns over the conflict in the Middle East.

Trump said there would be no deal to end the US war against Iran without an 'unconditional surrender' by Iran Meanwhile Qatar's energy minister said that Gulf energy producers may need to call force majeure in the coming days and warned oil prices could hit 150 dollars a barrel in an interview with the Financial Times.

Markets also digested data showing that economic growth in the eurozone was lower than previously reported in the final quarter of last year, due to a larger-than-expected contraction in Ireland.

The London FTSE 100 closed down 1.24% at 10,284.75 points, the Frankfurt DAX shed 0.63% at 23,623.56 points, the Paris CAC 40 lost 0.86% at 7,976.68 points, while in Milan the FTSE MIB fell 1.02% at 44,152.26 points, and in Madrid the IBEX 35.

closed 1.06% lower at 17,062.07 points.
