Europe shares end lower amid Iran peace talk setback
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 19 giu - European shares closed lower finding support in the decline of energy costs even as diplomatic efforts suffered a setback after scheduled US-Iran negotiations in Switzerland were called off, with vice president JD Vance cancellling plans to travel to Switzerland for the ceremonial signing of an interim deal with Tehran.
US president Donald Trump said the war had diminished Iran and the two countries had met for talks because Tehran was desperate.
Oil prices continued to retreat as tanker traffic resumed following the interim peace agreement between the US and Iran, which has helped ease supply shock fears.
The London FTSE 100 closed down 0.41% at 10,356.90 points, the Frankfurt DAX shed 0.21% at 24,974.79 points, the Paris CAC 40 lost 0.56% at 8,421.14 points, while in Milan the FTSE MIB gained 0.31% at 52,848.93 points, and in Madrid the IBEX.
35 closed 0.35% lower at 19,335.81 points.
