E.On to buy UK energy supplier Ovo

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 11 mag - The German energy group E.On said it has agreed to buy UK energy supplier Ovo in a deal that will strengthen its position in one of Europe's largest energy markets.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

E.on noted that it already supplies about 5.6 million customers in the UK and with Ovo, approximately 4 million are expected to be added.

'The United Kingdom is an important growth market for E.On, particularly for flexibility and customerfocused energy solutions,' said Marc Spieker, chief operating officer commercial at E.On. 'The planned acquisition of Ovo strengthens our retail business and underlines our commitment to be the trusted partner of choice for our customers. Energy flexibility and electrification are becoming increasingly important and are critical to the success of the energy transition." Closing of the deal is expected in the second half of 2026. Until then, E.On said its E.On Next business and Ovo will continue to operate as legally and operationally independent.
