Eni announces new 'giant' gas discovery offshore Indonesia

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 20 apr - The Italian energy company Eni announced a new "giant" gas discovery made by the Geliga-1 exploration well, drilled in the Ganal block in the Kutei Basin off the coast of Indonesia.

According to Eni, preliminary estimates indicate in place resources of approximately 5 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of gas and 300 million barrels of condensate in the encountered interval.

"Analyses are ongoing to evaluate accelerated development options, also considering the proximity to existing and planned infrastructures, which offer potential synergies in terms of timetomarket and cost optimization," Eni said.

Over the past six months, Eni has successfully drilled four other exploration wells within the same basin. Eni said its exploration campaign will continue with one additional well.
