EDF investing 240 mln eur for French consumer, industrial electrification efforts

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 8 apr - The French energy group EDF announced that it is deploying 240 million euros to help consumers and industrial groups acquire pumps and electric heavy goods vehicles, and to suport the installation of electricity-consuming industries in France.

EDF is committing the funds as the company celebrates its 80th anniversary, with financing to be provided both directly and via a support fund that is open to other partners.

Through the support fund, a flat-rate grant of 1,000 euros, combined with existing support schemes, will be paid to 80,000 low-income households for the installation of a heat pump, replacing a gas or oil boiler. With the support of state aid, EDF said the grant can help make heat pumps an "economically obvious" alternative to gas bailers.

Also via the support fund, EDF noted that 30 million euros will also be available for purchase subsidies to transport operators converting diesel trucks into electric heavy goods vehicles and 50 million for the installation of 180 charging stations for long-distance electric trucks across mainland France within three years.

EDF said that 80 million euros will also be dedicated to supporting projects for the installation of new electricity-consuming industries in France. EDF will offer turnkey sites with grid connections, also helping to reduce.

industrial setup timelines.
