Danone Q1 sales 6.708 bln eur, down 2.0%; up 2.7% like for like
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 22 apr - French dairy products and food company Danone said its first quarter sales fell a reported 2.0% to 6.708 billion euros but were up 2.7% on a like-for-like basis, led by an increase of 1.5% in volume/mix and 1.2% in price.
Reported sales were impacted by an adverse 5.6% currency effect that offset the 0.5% positive impact of scope and 0.3% impact of hyperinflation.
By region, like for like growth was led by Asia Pacific, up 6%, with volume/mix up 6.2% and price down 0.1%. Within the region, China, North Asia & Oceania posted like for like sales growth of 10.3% with volume/mix at 10.5% and price at down 0.2%.
In the Americas, liked for like sales were up 3.4%, with volume/mix at 2.5% and price at 0.9%. Within the region, North America delivered like for like sales growth of 1.5%, with volume/mix at 1.7% and price at down 0.3%.
EMEA like for like sales increased by 0.6%, with volume/mix at down 1.4% and price at up 2.0%. Within the region, Europe delivered like for like sales growth of 0.4%, with volume/mix at down 1.1% and price at up 1.5%.
The Essential Dairy and Plant-based division posted like for like sales growth of 3.4%, specialized nutrition a 1.9% increase and Waters was up 2.3%.
Danone confirmed its full year guidance, in line with mid-term ambition of like for like sales growth expected between 3-5%, with recurring operating income growing faster.
