Cigna Q1 adj EPS 6.47 usd vs 5.41

Now sees FY adj EPS at least 28.40 usd (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - New York, 02 May - The US healthcare company Cigna said that in the first quarter it posted a shareholders' net loss of 0.3 billion dollars, or 0.97 dollar per share, including a non-cash after-tax investment loss of 1.8 billion dollars, or 6.31 dollars per share, related to the impairment of VillageMD equity securities.

Shareholders' net income was 1.3 billion dollars, or 4.24 dollars per share, for first quarter 2023.

Adjusted income from operations for first quarter 2024 was 1.9 billion dollars, or 6.47 dollars per share, compared with 1.6 billion, or 5.41 dollars per share, a year earlier reflecting strong contributions from both Cigna Healthcare and Evernorth Health Services.

Total revenue rose 23% to 57.255 billion dollars, primarily driven by significant growth in Evernorth Health Services, reflecting several large client wins.

"Building on our track record of growth and continued momentum in 2024, we are pleased to increase our outlook for full-year earnings," said David Cordani, the chairman and CEO.

Cigna expects 2024 adjusted revenue of at least 235.0 billion and consolidated adjusted income from operations of at least 8.065 billion dollars, or at least 28.40 dollars per share.
