Chinese shares close lower, drop for 3rd straight session

Shanghai Composite down 0.74% at 3,021 points (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Shanghai , 23 Apr - Chinese shares closed lower, dropping for a third straight session and again bucking the trend amid strong Asian markets.

In mainland stock market dealings non-ferrous metals companies led the losses and coal-related stocks were also broadly lower.

Real estate and healthcare stocks also slid, while financials and consumer shares bucked the trend and rose.

Mainland stocks slid after outperforming their regional peers last week on persistent optimism over more stimulus measures to support the country's economy, following figures pointing to a patchy economic recovery.

The Shanghai Composite index closed down 0.74% at 3,021 points, while the Shenzhen CSI 300 closed down 0.70% at 3,506 points.

The indexes rose between 1.4% and 2% last week, outperforming their broader Asian peers.
