Chinese shares close broadly higher, extend rebound

Shanghai Composite up 1.17% at 3,088 points (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Shanghai , 26 Apr - Chinese shares closed broadly higher, extending a recent rebound amid strong Asian markets as optimism over corporate earnings and a series of policy support measures to boost investor confidence helped lift sentiment.

In mainland stock market dealings technology shares rallied after stronger-than-expected earnings from US giants Microsoft and Alphabet.

Real estate and healthcare stocks also were among the biggest advancers.

Chinese financial services shares also rose consolidation hopes after the State Council said late yesterday that it would promote the strengthening of leading securities companies.

The Shanghai Composite index closed up 1.17% at 3,088 points, while the Shenzhen CSI 300 closed up 1.53% at 3,584 points.

Mainland stocks slid earlier this week, after outperforming their regional peers last week on persistent optimism over more stimulus measures to support the country's economy following figures pointing to a patchy economic recovery.
