Brent futures tumble as US-Iran ceasefire deal eases supply fears

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 8 apr - Brent futures fell sharply after the announcement of a two-week "double-sided ceasefire" between the US and Iran.

The retreat in prices followed the agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a move that significantly lowered the geopolitical risk premium that had recently roiled energy markets. While oil prices moved lower, stock markets saw a relief surge as investors welcomed the 10-point proposal from Tehran, which US president Donald Trump described as a a "workable basis for negotiations," easing fears of a global economic slowdown.

At 0940 GMT, crude oil futures were down 14.63 dollars, or.

13.39%, at 94.64 dollars a barrel.
