Rate decision backed by 7-2 majority (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - London , 09 May - The Bank of England said that its Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) voted by a 7-2 majority to maintain the Bank Rate at 5.25%.

Two members preferred to decrease the Bank Rate by 0.25 percentage points, to 5.0%, arguing that the Bank Rate "needed to become less restrictive now to enable a smooth and gradual transition in the policy stance, and to account for lags in transmission.".
