Q1 loss per share 0.48 dollars (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - New York, 25 Apr - US carrier American Airlines said that it posted a loss per share of 0.48 dollars in the first quarter from earnings per share of 0.02 dollars in the same period a year ago.

Its adjusted loss per share in the period was 0.34 dollars compared to expectations for a loss of 0.29 dollars per share.

Total operating revenues rose 3.1% to 12.570 billion dollars in the quarter.

It said it expected to earn between 1.15-1.45 dollars per share in the second quarter on an adjusted basis compared to an analyst consensus of 1.18 dollars.

American confirmed its forecast to earn between 2.25-3.25 dollars per share for the full year.

Like certain other US peers, American has been hit by Boeing's latest quality control and safety crises.
