ABB to invest 200 mln usd to boost European medium-voltage tech output

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 11 mag - ABB, the Swiss-Swedish technology company focused on electrification and automation, announced plans to invest 200 million dollars in Europe to expand production capacity of medium-voltage technologies for electrical distribution.

ABB said it will invest 100 million dollars in Dalmine, Italy for a new facility to support growing demand for air-insulated and sulfur hexafluoride-free switchgear and breakers. The remaining 100 million dollar investment is for capacity expansion projects across factories in Bulgaria (Rakovski), Finland (Vaasa), Germany (Ratingen), Norway (Skien), and Poland (Przasnysz), scaling production of technologies such as gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), vacuum interrupters, and relays, enabling more reliable and resilient power distribution.
