US weekly jobless claims 207,000, down 5,000 wk/wk
Expectations were for 214,000 new claims (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Washington, 25 Apr - The number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits for the first time in the week ended April 20 was down 5,000 from the previous week's unrevised figure to a seasonally adjusted figure of 207,000, the US Labor Department said.
Expectations were for 214,000 new weekly claims. The four-week moving average, a more reliable indicator, showed claims were down 1,250 from the previous week's unrevised average at 213,250.
